oorg is not the name of a specific place. Coorg is the name of the district. You’ll not find any bus with ‘Coorg’ written as destination. So in touristic terms Coorg refers to a larger area that encircles many attractions.Coorg is the anglicized version of the native and official name Kodagu (Ko-Da-Gu).
Madikeri is the administrative capital and biggest town of Coorg district. In all probability this is the name of the destination when one books ticket to Coorg.
Here again Madikeri is the anglicized version of the local name Mercara (Mer-Ca-Ra). Other sub districts and larger towns in Coorg are Somwarpet and Virajpet.
