Keshava

K

eshava is a name of Lord Krishna. According to the Hindu mythology, Krishna killed the Keshi demon. The name Keshava implies Killer of the Keshi demon.

In Kannada this aspect of Lord Krishna is often referred as Chennakeshava. The main deity of this temple is Chennakeshava, hence the temple is called the Chennakeshava temple.

The idol of the Chennakeshava is missing in the the main sanctorum. However the other two sanctums contain beautiful images of Venugopala and Janardhana, both are forms of Lord Krishna.
