Elephanta island about 10km from Mumbai coast. So the first point is to get to Mumbai.

Once in Mumbai head for the Gateway of India. It is the ferry point to Elephanta Island operate.

[#metro]Take the suburban local rail to Churchgate or CST station. Gateway of India is short taxiride (20-30 min walk) from these stations

By the way CST (Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus) railway station itself is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
