Bangalore to Kerala by road:
For central kerala (Palakkad, Thrissur, Ernakulam , Alappuzha etc) , the popular road route is Bangalore – Salem via Krishnagiri ( NH 44) and then Salem – to Kerala via Coimbatore (NH 544) .
Once in Kerala you can either continue by NH 544 , if you are traveling towards Ernakulam , or take NH66 further to travel to north or of south of Kerala.
For northern parts of Kerala (Kannur, Kasargod, Kozhikode, Malappuram , Wayanad etc) , travel via Mysore. First travel to Mysore from Bangalore on NH275. From Mysore there are a few popular routes to Kerala. Two popular ones are either via Gundlupet for Kozhikode or Wayanad. And via Virajpet for Kannur.
For Kottayam , Munnar , Kollam etc travel on NH44 till Dindigul or Madurai and take the diversion towards Kerala
Thiruvananthapuram, the southernmost city in Kerala can be reached via Tirunelveli on NH44.
Bangalore to Kerala Trains
There are seven trains from Bangalore that run southward in Kerala. Out of it two are daily trains, that is the Bangalore-Ernakulam Express (Train No: 12677/12678) and Bangalore-Kanyakumari Express ( Train No: 16526).
Train No.16527 Yaswanthpur-Cannanore Express on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from Bangalore. This train goes to the north part of Kerala via Tamilnadu. If you are traveling to south of Kerala , like Cochin, change train at Palakkad or Shornur . Train Number 16528 is for the reverse direction ( towards Bangalore)
Route of Train No.16527 : Yesvantpur Jn – Hosur -Dharmapuri – Salem Jn – Erode Jn – Palakkad – Shoranur Jn – Tirur – Kozhikkode – Vadakara – Thalassery – Kannur
Train No. 16526 runs from Bangalore to Kanyakumari, and Train No. 16526 runs in the reverse direction.
