Details on how to efficiently cover the Mysuru-Hampi-Goa tourism circuit in 7days.

Day 1: Arrive at Mysuru City
Train is the most popular way to arrive at mysore, followed by bus. Mysore Jn is busy railway station with long distance trains (Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad , Mangalore , Hubli, Cochin etc).

Those arriving at Bengaluru airport (BLR), take the FlyBus from airport directly to Mysuru city ( 4hous travel to Mysuru)

ysuru (MYQ) has a few direct flight connections with cities like Chennai, Hyderabad, Hubli, Goa etc.

KSRTC operates many luxury and regular services to Mysuru from towns and cities in Karnataka as well as major cities in the neighbouring states. Select Ambari Dream Class for AC Sleeper or Airavat Club Class for semi sleeper and Karnataka Sarige class for economy.

There are many private bus operator like Durgamba,Orange etc operate daily services to Mysuru.

[#hotel] Select a city hotel of your budget & taste. Mysore city has many budget style & scale hotels, all within a few minutes taxi ride from the city centre. There are many hotels near the railway station (in 2km). The second popular hotel location is on the Ashoka Road (near Mysore Palace). Also there are good number of popular hotels in the vicinity of the KSRTC bus station.

Day 1 & 2
Explore Mysuru city & Outskirts

[#taxi] Hire a cab for better efficiency. City buses are frequent & cheaper if you are on budget friendly tour. Or take auto rickshaws for one attraction to another. Take Ambaari Double Decker bus for city tour on open air bus. For fun, you can take a horse cart too!

Many travel local agencies offer packaged private tour by cab. Every big hotel has a travel desk with standard rate card.

[#bicycle] Mysuru is a cycling friendly city. Mysore has Bicycle sharing system called Trin Trin with docking station located all round the city.

Keep one day each for city's attactiona and the day's excursion
Pick the interesting attractions from the city. You may not be able to cover everything in a day. So prioritize based on your taste.

[#idea] Mysore is a major tourism hub in this region. You can keep Mysuru as the base and setout for the neighbouring places like Coorg, Wayanad, Nagarhole, Kabini etc. This means you needs to reserve many more days in this part of the itinerary.

Day 2 Evening
Leave Mysore & head to Hampi

Board the Hampi Express in the evening from Mysore Jn. This is an overnight journey. Book your breath in advance in this train. You'll arrive at Hosapete Jn. Hampi is 13km from Hosapete Jn. Take an auto rickshaw ride to to Hampi.

Day 3 & 4
Explore Hampi

Day 4 Evening
Leave Hampi & head to Goa

On all days EXCEPT Tuesdays & Fridays board the Goa bound Amaravati Express (Train no: 18047)/Vasco Link Express (Train No: 17603). This is a combined train leaves Hosapete Jn (HPT) in the evening (6.20pm) and reached Vasco-Da-Gama (VSG) next day morning. This is the ideal choice, that saves time....

Another option (only on Tuesdays) is the day train Hyderabad - Vasco Express (Train No: 17021) & Tirupati Vasco Express (Train No:17419). Both leaves Hospet jn at 4.15am for Goa and reaches Vasco by 2.20pm. This means you're leaving Hampi on Day 5.

Paulo travels operates daily night sleeper bus to Goa from Hosapete. KSRTC too has two services, one from Hampi and the other from Hosapate bus station. All buses leaves between 7 and 8pm and reaches Goa early morning next day.

Bus takes 10hours & train takes 8hours to reach Goa.

[#hotel] Check in at a convenient Hotel in Goa. If you are conservative, check into on one of the regular hotels. Or go for a shack-like accommodation in any of the beaches.

Day 5 & 6
Explore Goa

Divide your Goa tour into two parts - North Goa & South Goa. Keep one day each. Yours arrival and departure point ( Madgaon or Vasco- Da Gama ) is in the middle of the the two.

[#scooter] Hire a scooter if you want to 'explore' goa in two days. Or take a point to point taxi service. Or hire a taxi for the whole day. All are popular option among the tourists.

Day 5
North Goa is a beach heavy!
Try Calangute Beach. It's a beach jam packed with holiday makers for a reason.
Or Anjuna Beach if you want that postcard style beach away from the from hustle and bustle of tourism.

Then there are the endless list of beaches of north Goa of various hues. Pic one or two max.

Day 6

Beaches: Pick one or two of the following beaches from the south Goa.
Palolem Beach
Agonda Beach
Benaulim Beach
Colva Beach
Butterfly Beach
Miramar Beach (very close to Panaji)

Vist one or to popular heritage churches. Don't miss Basilica of Bom Jesus church in Velha Goa

Day 7
Take flight or train out of Goa.

Goa International Airport (GOI) is located midway between the North & South Goa described above. Keep in mind, the northmost or southmost of Goa is about 2 hours drive from the airport

Goa has two major Railway stations - Vasco Da Gama Railway (VSG) and Madgaon (MAO). Most Likely you'll board a train from Madgaon (MAO) as this is on the busy Mumbai-Mangalore route with many express train connections.

Trains that originates from Goa start from Vasco Da Gama (VSG) and then arrives at Madgaon (MAO) 30 minutes later.

The main bus station is located in Panaji (Panjim). Panjim 35km north side of Madgaon.

Based on your travel out plan, book your hotel or start early to arrive at your exit point.

Pattadakal , Karnataka

Pattadakal (Pattadakallu in local language ) in the Indian state of Karnataka is renowned for the group of the 8th century CE monuments. Pattadakal is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Virupaksha temple

The Virupaksha Temple of Pattadakal signifies the high watermark of the Early Chalykyan architecture. This temple was built in commemoration to the victory of the Chalykyas over the Pallavas of the Kanchipuram.

Train connections for Badami, Aihole and Pattadakal

Badami , located about 22 km (14 miles) southwest of Pattadakal is the nearest railway station for Pattadakal. Badami (Station Code:BDM ) itself is on the less busy Solapur-Gadag route. This means, there are not many long distance trains connect Badami directly with other metro cities in the region. However there are a few convenient express and local train connections for Badami.

Chalukya Dynasty

The history of Chalukyas is a bit complicated with controversies and ambiguities ; and often riddled with myths and legends. Complicated, because there were many dynasties ( to be specific three ) shared the name Chalukya. Before going further into this, let's first see where was this Chalukya Empire, as it is often referred, existed in India. Those of you with an understanding of the India's geography , imagine the Indian heartland bordered by two rivers - Narmada in the north and Kaveri in the south. Well, what lies between these two rivers was practically the span of Chalukyan Empire at its peak.

Golgumbaz Express | Solapur Express

Golgumbaz Express (Train Number 6535 / 6536) is a tri-weekly express train between Solapur and Bangalore( Yesvantpur Junction). In the Yesvantpur to Solapur route it is called Solapur Express and in the return route it is called Golgumbaz Express.
