Munnar is a plantation town in Idukki district of Kerala located close to the Kerala Tamilnadu border, on the rolling hills of the Western Ghats.
In the local dialect, 'Munnar' literally means three rivers. The epicenter of Munnar is a typical border town with all its chaos. But off from this messy core, Munnar has one of the most beautiful natural ambiances in south India.
Sprawling over many hills and estates, a large part of Munnar’s tea gardens are owned by Tata Tea. The popular Kannan Devan brand of Tata is named after the Kannan Devan Hills of Munnar.
Anamudi the highest peak in south India is located in Munnar. You can access Munnar by road, both from Kerala side as well as from Tamilnadu.
The name India is short and crisp. Hiding in that short name is a giant and diverse country.
