Birbal's House in Fatehpur Sikri
He was one of the nine gems of Akbar’s court. He was also the prime minister in the court of Akbar. This is the reason that when the Mughal empire during the times of Akbar built the city of Fatehpur Sikri a separate palace like house was constructed for Birbal.
The Birbal house is a well visited tourist attraction in Fatehpur Sikri. This building was constructed in 1571.
It has four rooms which have square dimensions and are all interconnected with the help of open doorways and two porches that serve as entrances. There are exquisitely carved pilasters inside the building which divide the interior of the building into three parts.
There are beautiful jharokhas on the first floor in the Fatehpur Sikri – Birbal House There is rich carvings on most of the surfaces which are reminiscent of the Mughal era.
The architecture of the building is based on the typical Mughal style. Although this building is not very large when you compare it to some other palaces, houses and buildings in Fatehpur Sikri, it has a unique charm of its own. This is the reason that people flock to the Birbal house to admire its beauty.
This building is comparatively simple when you look at the other heavily embellished buildings in this former Mughal capital, but is still beautiful in its simplicity. A little ahead is the so called Camel Stable.
