But once inside, the resort do not have that typical feel of a high wayside drive in. The whole property is set beside a great looking river.

The well manicured lawn covers a great portion of this resort, generously populated with tall swaying coconut palms.

On the types of accommodation, there are basically two types : cottages by the riverside and rooms in a two storied building, also by the riverside.

The cottages are with character. These are compact houses built with traditional architecture style using laterite bricks, teak paneling and sloping terracotta roofs.

Irrespective of what type (room or cottage) suites you, opt for the river facing ones. Great location to get a glimpse of local fishermen folks in action (wake up early!)

The restaurant right around the corner is a local fame. Local folks thong this place for lunch and dinner. Here again take on of the table rows facing the river. The restaurant is set up in a verandah like open building with traditional architecture features.

Apart for a great swimming pool and a gym, there are not many indoor activities to do inside the resort to spend a days time. If you are looking for a not so expensive resort and would spend much of the day time sightseeing, this Nalanda resort is good choice.

Valiyaparamba backwaters
and the footbridge across Tejaswini River is just 2km from Nalanda Resort. Other major attractions in the region are located north of Nalanda. Bekal Fort is 20 km north.
