Highlights of the Purana Quila, the Old Fort in Delhi.

[#dot]Qila-I-Kuhna Mosque – Mosque built by Sher Shah Suri in 1541CE. Built with red sandstone and white marble as inlay, a good example of a pre-Mughal era architecture.
[#dot]Boating at Old Fort the lake – Weekend getaway for recreational boating. Once this waterboady encircling the fort.
[#dot]Talaqi Darwaza – the ‘forbidden gateway’. This door was not opened until the king return after a victorious campaign. Therefore the peculiar name.
[#dot]Bada Darwaza – The main Gateway to the fort.
[#dot]Sher Mandal – An octagonal two storied pavilion. The library or observatory, from where Humayun fallen to death in 1556.
[#dot]Humayuni Darwaza – Gateway looking towards the Humayun’s mausoleum
[#dot] Lawn and leafy garden inside the sprawling fort. A popular hangout point for youngsters.
[#dot] Museum – Archeology museum by ASI is located inside the fort.

The fort is located off the Mathura Road, 2km west of the India Gate. A short walk from the National Crafts Museum & the exhibition arena, the Pragati Maidan.

Nextdoor is the Delhi zoo. Further south is Humayun’s Tomb, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
