The Six Abodes of Murugan (Arupadai Veedu) are six temples situated in Tamilnadu in South India.
Lord Muruga is known by different names such as Kartikeya, Kanda, Vadivela and Murugan at various temples.
The six most sacred abodes of Murugan was mentioned in Tamil sangam literature, “Thirumurugatrupadai”, written by Nakkeerar and in “Thiruppugazh”, written by Arunagirinathar.
The six abodes are located at Thiruparankundram, Tiruchendur, Palani, Swamimalai, Thiruthani and Pazhamudircholai.
Except Tiruchendur, all he temples are at remote hiltops. At Tiruchendur, the massive temple is by the seaside.

Thiruthani Murugan Temple | Located on the hill of Tiruttani, 95km west of Chennai. Thiruthani (TRT) has a railway station with connection to Chennai and Tirupathi.
Swamimalai Swaminatha Swamy Temple| This is second abode of Murugan among six. Swamimalai is located, 5 km from Kumbakonam, on the banks of a tributary of river Kaveri. Kumbakonam & Thanjavur is the major railway stations.
Arulmigu Dhandayuthapani Swamy Temple | Palani temple is first and most famous of the Six Abodes of Murugan. It is located in atop Palani Hills near Palani town. Palani has a small railway station (PLNI). Dindigul, Madurai and Coimbatore are major cities near Palani. Madurai and Coimbatore has airports.
Pazhamudircholai Murugan Temple | This Murugan is temple, located about 25 kilometres north of Madurai. Nearby is the Kallazhagar Temple
Thiruparankundram Murugan Temple | Located near Madurai city. There’s a small railway station in Thiruparankundram, walkable from the temple. Only a few trains stop here. Madurai Jn (MDU) is the main nearest railway station for Thiruparankundram. By road Thiruparankundram is about 7km southwest of Madurai city.
Thiruchendur Arulmigu Subramaniya Swamy Temple | Located in Thiruchendur. This is the only one of the six abodes of lord Murugan located by the sea side.Thiruchendur has a railway-station. Tirunelveli, 50km Northwest is the major city with many rail connections.

Aadi Karthigai ( ஆடி கிருத்திகை ) has special festivals at all these temple. Draws very big pilgrim crowd.
