Atiranachanda Cave

One of the least visited attractions in Mahabalipuram! Even those make it to the Tiger Cave fail to notice this cave.

Atiranachanda Cave is located on the far end of the compound where the Tiger Cave is located.

You can also find a number of interesting rock formations inside this campus. This cluster is about 5km north of (towards Chennai) Mahabalipuram on the ECR.

Panel inside the Atiranachanda Cave in Mahabalipuram. Seat beside Lord Shiva is Parvathi , the consort of Shiva. Seated on the lap of Parvathi is their son, Skanda . You can also see the tip of the prismatic linga in the foreground, probably a later addition during the early 19th century.
