Bangalore to Kannur by train
The most popular train is the Yasvantpur – Kannur Express ( Train number 16527/16528). This train takes about 14 hours to reach from Bangalore to Kannur. Though the road distance is almost half (about 650km) the train route distance, this train is popular because it’s an overnight train.
This train stops at Banaswadi (BAND) and Carmelaram (CRLM) in Bangalore.
Bangalore to Kannur by Road
[#car]Take the Mysore route (NH275). From Hunsur ( after Mysore) leave NH275 and take the Virajpet road.
This road will take you to Iritty in Kerala. You can take further diversions at Iritty to your destination in north Kerala.
Bangalore-Kannur road distance is 310+km. Driving should take anything from 7½ to 8½ hours ( 8½ hours, with a few stops).
Bangalore → 145km (NH275) → Mysore → 30km (NH275) → Hunsur → 45km (state highway 90)→ Gonikoppal → 37km → Karnataka|Kerala boarder → 14km → Iritty → 14km → Mattannur → 27km → Kannur
Exit Bangalore city: Take the NICE Road (expressway) to get to the Mysore road. You can get to NICE road from Electronics city side, Bannerghatta or Kanakapura road.
Bypass Mysore City. Either take the Srirangapatina bypass (turn right after the 2nd long bridge, as you exit Srirangapatina island ). Or if your continue straight take the Mysore city bypass (turn right at Colombia Asia Hospital junction).
After Hunsur leave NH275 for the Virajpet road. Watch-out for the left fork towards Virajpet shortly after Hunsur.
Upto Mysore/Hunsur there are many decent restaurants for pitstops.
Bangalore to Kannur by air
It’s 60min flight between Bangalore and Kannur. Check with the flight booking portals like Makemytrip , Goibibo etc for the schedules and fare (typically around ₹2000-₹3000).
Bangalore to Kannur by Bus
KSRTC and private operators run overnight buses to Kannur from Bangalore. Most of them leaves between 7pm and 10pm. Search the schedule & book ticket online at ksrtc.in
