erala to Hampi TrainsHospet is the nearest railway station for Hampi. However, there are no direct trains from Kerala to Hospet.
Option 1 : Travel to Bangalore by any of the trains ( flights or bus) and take a connection train to Hospet (code HPT) ( also called Hosapete ). The overnight train , Hampi Express between Mysore and Hubli is the most popular train for traveling from Bangalore to Hampi.
Option 2 : Travel to Goa ( Madgaon or Vasco stations). From Goa take a connecting train like Howrah Express (Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays ). Thera are also overnight bus connections ( private buses) between Hospet and Goa.
There are about 6 trains ( 2 daily trains) connect Kerala with Goa along the Konkan coast.
Cities in Kerala Thiruvananthapuram, Ermnakulam (Kochi/Cochin), Kollam, Alapuzha, Trissur, Kozhikode, Kannur etc are connected connected to Goa by Netravati express.
Daily trains like Kanyakumari-Bangalore Express connects Thiruvananthapuram with Bangalore via other cities in Kerala like Kollam, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Trissur, Palakkad.
By there way there is a 12 hour or so bus (Rajahamsa service by KSRTC ) connection from Mangalore to Hopset. Those traveling from the northern part of Kerala, Mangalore is also a good connection point for Hampi.

Jindal Vijaynagar Airport (VDY) is a small airport near Hampi with flights to Hyderabad and Bangalore (BLR). (operated by TruJet).
VJD - BLR flight is about about hour (fare in the range of Rs2000-3000). TruJet operates in this route.
BLR - COK/CNN/COK/TRV flight durations is about an hour ( TRV a bit longer ), fares ranges from Rs2500 to Rs3500.

Badami , located about 22 km (14 miles) southwest of Pattadakal is the nearest railway station for Pattadakal. Badami (Station Code:BDM ) itself is on the less busy Solapur-Gadag route.
