Kushalnagar is on the state highway 88. Auto-rickshaw is the best mode for a trip to the Golden Temple from Kushalnagar town.

There are frequent bus services between Mysore and Madikeri. It takes about 2 hours from Mysore to Kushalnagar. Tell the conductor to drop you at the Kuppam village square, which is a little ahead of the Kushalnagar bus stand. Take an auto rickshaw from Kuppam to Byalakuppe.
If you are driving ( say from Mysore ) take the SH 88 (Hunsur Road). It's about 85km drive from Mysore city to Bylakuppe. This is a well maintained 4 lane highway. A little ahead of Kushalnagar town you'll find a left deviation for Bylakkuppe. It's about 15 minutes drive from the deviation on the highway to Bylakkuppe. From Mysore you can reach Bylakuppe in about 1½ hours.
Kushalnagar is about 30 km ( 18 miles) from the Madikeri town. Take a cab from Madikeri to Bylakuppe. If you need a cheaper option for go for the bus services. KSRTC operates many services from Madikeri to Kushalnagar. There are plenty of services from Madikeri via Kushalnagar to Mysore.
The nearest railway station is at Mysore, from where you can get long distance connections.
Bangalore is the nearest airport, as Mysore's airport doesn't have regular commercial services.
