Making sense of the 4 main railway stations in Delhi

You can travel to Delhi's one of the five stations from anywhere from the national rail network. Look for trains to these stations as destination options in/out of Delhi.
[#dot-a]New Delhi (NDLS) the most important and convenient station for most long distance travellers.
[#dot-a]Hazrat Nizamuddin (NZM), is the second most important stations. A large number of southbound long distance trains start from here.
[#dot-c]For long distance trains from northern parts, the Delhi Junction (DLI), also called Old Delhi railway station is the ideal station.
[#dot-c]Many trains from western part ( Rajasthan) operate from Sarai Rohilla (DEE) .
[#dot-c]Similarly some trains towards the east operate from Anand Vihar (ANVT).
[#metro] Metro Connections: New Delhi, Anand Vihar and Nizamuddin has metro stations next to the main railway stations. Shastri Nagar metro station is 1km from Sarai Rohilla. For Delhi Junction, use Chandni Chowk metro station across the main road.

[#bar-b] Foreign travellers can use the reservation office dedicated at the upper floor of the New Delhi Railway Station.
[#bar-a] Railway stations and its environs are hotspot areas of pickpockets and con artists. Guard you wallet and baggage with extra care. Any offer of unsolicited help & information ( hotel is closed, booking office moved etc ) to be taken with caution.
