Why Kanyakumari?

A large number of people go there for worship at the Kanyakumari Temple, the shrine of the goddess at the confluence of three oceans.

There's a meditation hall built on the boulder - Vivekananda Rock Memorial, named after the legendary philosopher Vivekananda. Vivekananda is said to have achieved enlightenment at this place.

Well into the sea is the colossal statue of Valluvar, the celebrated Tamil poet and philosopher of ancient tamil lore.

Gandhi Mandapam on the seashore is the place where urn containing ashes of Mahatma Gandhi's was kept before immersions into the sea.

Kanyakumari offers spectacular sunrises and sunsets, both from/into the sea.

And you can definitely get that proverbial high by standing at the very tip of Indian peninsula, with water from the three oceans - Bay of Bengal on your left, Indian Ocean to the front and Arabian Sea to the right - lapping your feet!

National Highway 44 (NH44)

It appears like a typical T-junction on a road. Nothing spectacular, you may drive past un noticed. But make no mistakes about it, this is the tip of the national highway that connects Srinagar in J&K with Kanyakumari in Tamilnadu. This is the very end point of the popular phrase in india - 'Kashmir to Kanyakumari'!
