Of all the lord Murugan temples in Tamilnadu, the following six temples are considered the most important. In Tamil, these six abodes of Murugan are called 'aaru padai veedu', literally six adobes of Lord Murugan.

Thiruparankundram Murugan Temple | Located near Madurai city. There's a small railway station in Thiruparankundram, walkable from the temple. Only a few trains stop here. Madurai Jn (MDU) is the main nearest railway station for Thiruparankundram. By road Thiruparankundram is about 7km southwest of Madurai city. |
