[#road] There are three main approaches to reach Sabarimala , popularly called the (1) Erumeli route (2) Vandiperiyar route (3) Chalakayam route.
Erumeli Route. Pilgrim traveling from the north and west side of Sabarimala ( like Kottayam, Ernakulam, Trissur, Mangalore) take this route. The main roads will merge at the pilgrimage town of Erumeli. This is also the starting point of the traditional longer trek trail to Sabarimala.
Vandiperiyar. This is a popular route for pilgrims traveling to Sabarimala from the northeastern side of Sabarimala ( Idukki, Coimbatore , Dindigul, Madurai etc)
Chalakayam route Pilgrims coming from the southwestern districts (Kollam, Thiruvananthapuram, Thirunelveli , Kanyakumari etc) take this route.
And then connect it with the main routes (interstate, intercity routes or even the Rail routes).
